ST LOUIS (LALATE) â€" A Japan earthquake today 2013 has erupted in the Kyushu region of the country. The Japan earthquake today Monday, March 11, 2013 began in the evening hours locally. No reports of damage have yet to be indicated by local news.

Today marks the second anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that stuck Japan, killing thousands of people, and triggering concerns over a crippled nuclear plant in Fukushima.

The temblor was followed by a series of smaller aftershocks shortly after 10 a.m., according to the USGS, as well as a quake that preceded today's larger event: a magnitude-2.5 that struck near Pine Valley in East County San

The quakes today are not nearly as large (a magnitude 5 quake has only 1/30 the energy of a magnitude 6 event), but all earthquake swarms on active fault systems should be noted carefully. Most of the time nothing else
