BREAKING: State and local police are responding to the University of Rhode Island for a possible gunman on the Kingston Campus.
A University of Rhode Island biology professor screamed for students to evacuate Chaffee Hall after she heard students yelling about an alleged gunman in the building, WPRI.com has confirmed.

URI President David Dooley said the university, which has 13,000 undergraduates, also would review whether students took the lockdown seriously; many were walking around campus while the situation was going on despite being ordered to stay inside.
URI canceled classes on the Kingston campus for the remainder of the day and said classes will resume Friday. All campus shuttles were temporarily stopped and RIPTA buses were diverted away from campus until further notice. Students, faculty and staff
