Kentucky Derby 2013: A mint julep recipe now being served

The official drink of the Kentucky Derby doesn't have to be hard to make.

Turns out that one of the best Derby Day traditions is one you can stir up for yourself right at home: the classic Kentucky mint julep. Traditionally served in a chilled silver cup, this simple bourbon cocktail packs a lot of punch.

The cool, refreshing cocktail is served over crushed ice, and is easy to prepare: A little bourbon, some simple syrup, and mint. Garnish with some powdered sugar and a some more mint. What could be easier! [Scroll down for our favorite mint julep
