Jeff Hanneman, one of the founding guitarists of the pioneering thrash metal band Slayer, died today in Southern California of liver failure. He was 4.

It's with true sadness that we report that legendary Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman has died at the age of 49. The tragic news was confirmed by a press.

"Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11 a.m. this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure," the band said in a statement
