Christoph Waltz is an award-winning actor and a nominee at this weekend's Oscar ceremony, but all of that talent couldn't guarantee that he'd be a standout host of "Saturday Night Live.
The last time SNL welcomed a critically beloved, heavily-accented host, the resulting show was a pleasant surprise -- Sofia Vergara presided over one of season 37's better episodes.

Waltz is charming and game, and none of the sketches fall flat.
